1pm Chapel FM Collective Big Band

The Chapel FM Jazz Collective is an exciting, high-energy big band. But not a typical big band jazz group though—they play a wide range of music from across the jazz spectrum including original compositions with a healthy focus on the joy of improvisation. Musical Direction from Dave Evans but this is a musical collective with big ideas.

2.45 Archipelago

Faye MacCalman (clarinet, tenor saxophone)/John Pope (electric bass)/Christian Alderson (drums)

Faye MacCalman fronts a sax-bass-drums trio drawing on garage rock, minimalism and free improvisation: riffs, silence, noise and grooves create a collage of hard-edged blocks of sound that evolve over the performance.
