Leeds Jazz Festival event: Adrian Knowles and “Sounds of ’59”

The year 1959 was a special one in jazz history. It saw the release of classic jazz albums including Charlie Mingus ‘Ah Um’, Miles Davis ‘Kind of Blue’ , Dave Brubeck ‘Out of Time’ and John Coltrane ‘Giant Steps’ amongstmany others.

“Sounds of 59” are drawn from some of the best of Leeds Jazz musicians to recreate the music. Their leader Adrian Knowles will relate some of the history and stories behind these classic jazz albums.

The afternoon’s concert features “Sounds of 59” (1pm- 2.15pm) followed by the Leo Richardson Quartet (2.45-4pm)
