Yorkshire-based bassist and composer Ben Crosland has been a regular presence on the jazz scene through his projects “Threeway” and the “Ray Davies Songbook”. He has fond memories of the countryside around the Solway Firth and this inspired him to write these “Solway Stories” compositions. “We were captivated by the gorgeous landscape and engaging place names” recalls Crosland. Over the course of eighteen months a further seven pieces were completed, creating the twelve part ‘suite’ that constitutes “Solway Stories”

“The pieces have a typically light touch, the improvised parts and the solos deftly woven so that you scarcely notice the join. Its sunny tunefulness sounds especially appealing in the dark days of winter” Dave Gelly **** BBC music magazine

Support (7.30-8pm) is from Panos Kotsiopoulos and his trio “The Project” They are an established group with a history of performances and have just released their second album, called ‘Midpoint’. Dimitris Tsiotas is on guitar Panos Kotsiopoulos bass, Joshua Smout drums.
