Sun Feb 23: Ed Kainyek Quartet @Seven Arts 1.30pm

Ed Kainyek sax, Richard Harrold pno, Will Graham drums and John Sandham bass

The bluesy funky sax of Ed Kainyek, an alumnus of the Leeds Jazz Rock Orchestra now based in Manchester. Ed cites Dexter Gordon, Joe Henderson and Grover Washington as key influences on his playing, although his sound is truly his own.

As a session player, Ed is  extremely versatile, and is as comfortable playing Latin or funk as he is playing jazz and blues. He’s a Tubby Hayes fan and will devote a fair share of the performance to contemporary british jazz musicians
