Ed Kainyek Quintet feat. Andrzej [email protected] Arts, Sun 13 Jan 1.30pm

Ed Kayniek sax, Andrzej Baranek piano, Will Powell guitar, Steve Crocker bass, Dom Moore drums

An alumnus of the Leeds Jazz Rock Orchestra and now a local legend on the Manchester jazz scene, Ed Kainyek cites Dexter Gordon, Charlie Parker, Joe Henderson, Phil Woods and Grover Washington as key influences on his playing, although his sound is truly his own, and with each solo he makes his own statement.

His jazz playing has built up strong musical relationships and versatility. Ed is extremely versatile, and is comfortable playing Latin or funk just as he is playing jazz and blues. Manchester based jazz wizard Andrzej Baranek is on piano with the Jazz Leeds trio in support
