Greg Abate is a US jazz saxophonist, flutist, composer and international jazz recording artist.
In the mid 70’s after finishing a four year program at Berklee College Of Music, Greg played lead alto for the Ray Charles Orchestra and tenor sax with the revived Artie Shaw Orchestra under leadership of Dick Johnson in 1986 and ’87.
Following this Greg ventured out as post hard bop soloist playing jazz festivals and clubs throughout North America and Europe, one of the hardest working and original bebop saxplayers. He appears at Seven Arts with the Pete Rosser Trio – Pete Rosser piano, Sam Jackson bass and John Settle drums. Their performance starts at 8pm
Support (7.30-8pm) is from two young Leeds musicians – Joel Stedman (reeds) and Greg Vincent (piano) who played for us recently as part of the Ancient Infinity Orchestra
