Seven Arts - the jazzroom

A lot has changed on the local jazz scene since we started up promoting jazz in 2007. Leeds is a really good example showing the current variety in the UK jazz scene.  There are now many new venues, with many more musicians, new musical approaches and new types of commercial, voluntary, public funded and DIY jazz promoters.

Given these changes we have to look to our own future – our concerts (now numbering over 100 a year), jazz festivals, jam sessions, workshops, schools projects. We need to understand more why people come to our concerts and support what we do? We need to ask is this sustainable and how might it be done differently? Can we continue to do it all with just our small team of volunteers?

A live discussion session (one hour) will be held on Wednesday 19 June 2pm at Seven Arts, Chapel Allerton – all are welcome, just come along

Online Zoom sessions (1 hour) will be as follows Monday 17 June 11am (audience members) Monday 24 June 2pm (musicians) Thursday 27 June 12pm midday (stakeholders, partners, trustees, volunteers)

Oli Bentley from Split Design will be leading these sessions with us.   We want you to take part.

If you can’t come to a specific group just choose another where you are available   Email me Steve Crocker at and say which one you’d like to come to. I’ll then send you an on line link to your chosen Zoom session or let you have more information about the live event at Seven Arts.
