The LUU Big Band is a Leeds University Union society, playing a variety of jazz, pop, and contemporary music. The band was formed in 1987 and has grown in popularity to become one of the most prestigious musical societies at the University. The line-up is that of a traditional big band, with a full rhythm section, saxophones, trombones and trumpets.

Their musical directors have worked tirelessly since September, with emphasis on overall tone, and perfecting different styles for different charts. This has allowed the band to play a wide variety of music, from traditional Count Basie swing charts to pop and disco songs from the likes of Chaka Kahn and Michael Jackson, along with some more challenging contemporary charts. The band are really looking forward to playing at Seven Arts for what will be one of their final gigs of the year.
