Nerija are a collective of London-based musicians playing exciting and original music inspired by Jazz, Hip Hop, Afrobeat and South African Township. Featuring a line-up truly representative of the up-coming London jazz scene, the seven-piece band features rising players such as tenor saxophonist Nubya Garcia, one of the leading forces behind the resurgence of jazz in the UK, trumpeter Sheila Maurice-Grey and guitarist Shirley Tetteh (most recently at the Jazz Leeds concert in November with Arun Ghosh). Their eclectic repertoire appeals to not only the UK jazz scene but also to pop-focused audiences.
