Best known for his hard hitting jazz funk and blues guitar, Nic Svarc is also a fine contemporary jazz player, and to prove it he’s organised a superb group for our Sunday afternoon JazzLeeds session featuring Dave Walsh (drums) Jeff Guntren (sax) and Richard Hammond (bass). Nik Svarc is Graduate of Leeds College of Music. Nik has played at various Jazz Festivals. Most notably Birstonas Jazz Festival in Lithuania, Manchester Jazz Festival, Marsden Jazz Festival, Wigan Jazz Festival, Southport Jazz Festival, JazzLeeds Festival, The 02 Wireless Festival (Hyde Park) and Gateshead international jazz festival, Soho Jazz Jam, London Jazz festival and international dates in Poland.
Nick was selected for the Northern Line (Jazz North) touring support scheme with one of his bands (Svarc, Hanley, Longhawn) by a panel including renowned saxophonist Stan Sultzman. He also runs a Power Trio (SvarcTrio) with bass player Garry Jackson and drummer Dave Walsh.
Alongside being a working musician and composer Nick also teaches in and around the London and Leeds areas at various educational institutions and is a highly accomplished teacher in some of Leeds most outstanding schools.
