Nigel Price Organ Quartet featuring Vasilis Xenopoulos – Thus 21 Oct 2021, 7.30pm

Nigel Price Organ Quartet

Nigel Price – Guitar, Ross Stanley – B3 Hammond Organ, Joel Barford – Drums, Vasilis Xenopoulos – Tenor Saxophone

Nigel Price is one of the UK’s leading jazz guitarists and a tireless supporter of live music, so it is with great pleasure that we welcome him back, leading his Organ Quartet in an evening of tunes made famous by the legendary guitarist Wes Montgomery.

Nigel is one of the most hardworking jazz musicians in the UK, managing to secure an Arts Council-funded tour even during lockdown, and guaranteed to provide an evening of foot-tapping straightahead bebop with a funky edge. His special guest Vasilis Xenopoulos brings a committed melodic tenor saxophone edge to the band, in the tradition of Dexter Gordon.

His group, winners of the 2010 Parliamentary Jazz Award for ‘Best ensemble’ will be playing selections from their past six albums, as well as music from the as yet unreleased ‘Wes Re-Imagined’ which sees the compositions of Wes Montgomery reworked into different feels.

Expect exciting interplay, virtuosic, blues drenched soloing and a few laughs too!
