Sunday afternoon 1 April @Inkwell 1.30pm start £9/7 (NUS £5)

Personnel is Greg Wadman (trumpet),Bob Smeaton (piano), Ray Cooper (bass),Ron Burnett (trombone and vocals),Paul Smith (drums)

Something different – York trombonist and singer Ron Burnett brings his traditional jazz and swing band to delight your Easter Sunday at Inkwell. Mardi Gras covers a range from 1920s to 1990s; Bix, Louis Prima, Fats Waller, Louis Jordan, and such maverick choices as Paul Simon’s Take Me To The Mardi Gras.

Ron Burnett spent his jazz apprenticeship in the late 1960s/early 70s and 80s playing with Martin Boland White Eagles, the Wool City Jazzband and occasional sit-ins with the Cherry Tree band and at the famous Coburg. He had (1978-1983) an 8-piece Jazz/funk band, Best Friends, which started at the Cherry Tree, then to the Victoria, York Road and finally the Warehouse club, close to the International Pool. Most of these were Sunday lunchtime gigs, but with occasional evening gigs elsewhere in Leeds.

Come and see the band in their Hawaiian shirts! Lots of fun
