Sunday 21 July Doors open 6pm Music 6.30pm

Formed to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Jimi Hendrix’s epic third album Electric Ladyland, the all star Electric Lady Big Band re-imagine the whole album, in sequence. Jimi’s 1968 masterpiece is a sprawling epic straddling the worlds of blues, funk, jazz, pop and psychedelia and was as groundbreaking for its concept as it was for pioneering new studio techniques. Recalling the recordings of the late great Gil Evans featuring the music of Jimi Hendrix, The Electric Lady Big Band tackle this vital work with love and respect in an attempt to realise Hendrix’s wish to “have a big band that I can write and conduct for.” An undoubted 2019 festival highlight – book early!
