Lester Young was one of the true jazz giants, a tenor saxophonist who came up with a completely different conception in which to play his horn, floating over bar lines with a light tone rather than adopting Coleman Hawkins’ then-dominant forceful approach.

Eliot Richards is a jazz saxophonist based in Leeds, UK. He can be found playing all over the country and, indeed the world, having played across Europe and Asia. Since completing his undergraduate degree at Leeds College of Music in 2011 and MA in 2018 he has played with such exciting jazz projects as Kate Peters Septet and Big Band, Tom Sharp’s Jazz Orchestra, Play or Die Big Band, Tobie Carpenter Organ Trio and Jeff Hewer Quartet. He leads “Meantime Trio” which takes its influence from the great swinging trios of the 50/60s. Eliot spent the start of 2019 in the USA studying with the great Charles Owens
