Popular voluntary-run jazz promoter based in Chapel Allerton in North Leeds. Winner of the Parliamentary Jazz Award 2016 for best UK jazz club.

Started in 2007 by Steve Crocker and Steve Ross, Jazz Leeds is now one of the major UK jazz promoters, based at Seven Arts, Chapel Allerton Leeds.

We are an arts music charity with a year round programme of over 140 gigs, jazz festivals, jam sessions and workshops. We promote a mixture of international, national and local musicians and a wide range of music from contemporary through to traditional jazz with some blues, latin and big bands as well. 2022 is our 15th birthday year. We won the Parliamentary Jazz award for best UK jazz promoter in 2016.

Our programme includes

  • Evening and Sunday afternoon concerts with international, national and regional jazz artists.
  • Jazz Cafes where we encourage people to join in.
  • The Leeds Jazz Festival in June at city centre venues
  • Village Jazz Festival in August/September – part of the Chapel Allerton Arts Festival.
  • Two jazz venues – Seven Arts and The Barn @Meanwood Valley Urban Farm
  • Jazz Workshops for people who want to learn to play jazz and a vocal workshop for singers.

Jazz Leeds charity has a board of trustees including Steve Crocker, Rosemary Holmes, Steve Ross, Jamil Sheriff, Karen Gourlay and Ramesh Narayanan. We currently one  intern, Ben Gilbert, and a large group of volunteer supporters who help us in running our events. We are always looking for help – just come to one of our gigs and offer!
