The Leeds University Union Big Band (LUUBB) is a 21-piece Big Band, which plays a wide variety of dance band/big band repertoire including swing, funk, pop and jazz. Leeds University Union Big Band, one of the North’s premier jazz
ensembles. LUUBB performs gigs frequently across Leeds, the UK, and tours France annually, having performed sold out gigs at venues such as Belgrave Music Hall, Brudenell Social Club and the Lending Room. They last appeared at Seven Arts in May 2024
The Durham University Big Band (DUBB) is an 18 -piece student ensemble that performs a mix of traditional and contemporary big band music, including standards, Motown, funk, and fusion. DUBB have a large following across the country, regularly selling out
gigs including the 120 capacity Pizza Express Jazz Club in Soho. This year they are under direction of internationally commissioned arranger Tom Hardy, recent winner of the 2025 Callum Au Big Band Competition.
This Sunday will see a meeting of the two bands at the Sunday afternoon session at Seven Arts. If you like big bands then this will be for you!
