Playing music of Wayne Shorter and Charles Mingus plus influences from Latin American and South African jazz

This concert has been re arranged from 1 July to 29 July due to clash with England’s World Cup football match.

The son of a multi-instrumentalist, Toby has been a professional saxophonist since the age of 16 and although reared on jazz, he has made his living principally within the funk, R’n’B and session scene. Having worked in brass sections of just about every size and permutation you can think of, he makes particular use of this invaluable experience when arranging the brass in his various bands, exploiting the different blends and tonal possibilities available.

Stylistically he’s been influenced by major American jazz composers such as Wayne Shorter and Charles Mingus and there are also tangible influences from Latin American and particularly South African jazz.
