Joshua Cavanagh-Brierley is a respected Manchester-based bassist and composer.  Joshua channels a modern Mingus style, with support from a plethora of youthful talent and formidable arrangements. The group consists of assortment of musicians who deliver irregularly catchy time signatures of powerful grooves and jazzy, feel-good vibes.

“The Mild Mannered and the Mortal” is his latest album released on Efpi Records 7 August 2026. His Sextet is live at our Sunday afternoon jazz session featuring Kyran Matthews (tenor sax), Graham South (trumpet), Ellie Smith (trombone), Rich Jones (piano), Joshua Cavanagh-Brierley (bass) and Johnny Hunter (drums)
