Jay Phelps has curated an exceptional show which brings together the best of Miles Davis - Kind of Blue live!

Doors: 7.30pm Music: 7.30pm

London-based Canadian-born trumpeter Jay Phelps has curated a new show which brings together the best of Miles Davis’s repertoire from 1958 and 1959. He’ll be leading the band with his own formidable, virtuosic trumpet playing alongside a hugely talented line-up of tenor saxophonist Dan Lockheart, pianist Andy Bunting, bassist James Owston and drummer Jim Bashford.

Kind of Blue by Miles Davis is the best-selling jazz album of all time. Prior to it’s release Miles was busy in the studio, working with the same line-up of musicians: Cannonball Adderley, John Coltrane, Bill Evans, Wynton Kelly, Paul Chambers and Jimmy Cobb. In 1958, the year before Kind of Blue, the album called ’58 Miles was released. These albums defined Miles’s ground-breaking approach to the art of improvisation.

What Jay brings to the stage is an energy and a level of originality that is hard to find. Whether it’s a live show or one of his hybrid DJ sets, I know Jay will always deliver tenfold and leave the room in a better place than he found it. And that is priceless.” Juliet Kennedy, Founder & Director, Brick Lane Jazz Festival

“The leading UK-based trumpet player is set to play music from the icon and biggest selling album of all time” Mike Flynn Jazzwise editor
